The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a man suspected of kidnapping a 10-year-old girl and concealing her inside a refrigerator.

Confirming the arrest to reporters on Tuesday in Kaduna, the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, stated that the incident occurred on Saturday around 1400hrs when the mother of the abducted girl, Uwaila Idris, reported her daughter’s disappearance.

According to Hassan, Uwaila Idris reported that on April 26, around 1300hrs, one Aminu Garba allegedly abducted her 10-year-old daughter, Hanifa Garba, in his shop in Unguwar Gara Village, Kauru Local Government Area of the state.

“When questioned about Hanifa’s whereabouts, the suspect denied any knowledge. However, he was observed going back to his shop, where he covered the girl’s mouth with a Hijab and forced her into a refrigerator, locking her inside,” Hassan explained.

Following a search by youths in the area, Hanifa was discovered locked inside the refrigerator. The suspect was promptly arrested, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind his actions.

Hassan stated that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the discreet investigations.
