A Chinese expatriate, Mr. GZ Zhen, has been arrested by the Abia State Police for his alleged involvement in the death of a female crane operator, Ocheze Ogbonna, at Inner Galaxy Steel in Umuahala Asa, Ukwa West council area.
According to reports, Zhen purportedly assaulted Ogbonna during a night shift at the company after she rejected his advances, resulting in injuries that led to her demise.
The incident sparked unrest in the community, with local youths protesting against the tragic loss of the crane operator, who hailed from the area.
Confirming the arrest, Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed that Zhen is currently in police custody. She further stated that investigations into the matter have commenced.
