Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, created a scene on Tuesday by jumping over a gate in an attempt to evade arrest by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command. The arrest followed a complaint from a car dealer regarding an unpaid debt.

Portable had arranged to purchase a G-Wagon valued at N27 million, initially making a down payment and promising to pay the balance later. However, the dealer reported that Portable had failed to settle the remaining amount.

In a viral video of the incident, Portable, dressed in a white and black striped shirt, is seen conversing with eight other individuals and the officers. After being shown the arrest warrant, he responded, “No problem, no problem Oga mi,” while pacing around. He briefly reassured a man believed to be his friend before swiftly climbing over a nearby gate and fleeing.

Another video captured the moment four police operatives caught and bundled Portable into a standby vehicle.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27m, paid N13m, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”

This is not Portable’s first run-in with the law. In 2023, he was arrested and arraigned over allegations of assault on a former signee. Despite police orders to turn himself in, he evaded authorities until he was eventually apprehended at his Ota residence.

Portable, who rose to fame with his hit single “Zazuu” featuring rapper Olamide in 2021, is notorious for his numerous controversies.
