A tragic accident on Sunday claimed the lives of four people and left four others injured on the Ikorodu-Sagamu Expressway. The collision occurred around noon in the MRI area.
Florence Okpe, Chief Route Commander of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), provided details of the incident. She reported that seven adults and one child were involved in the crash, which was caused by wrongful overtaking.
Okpe explained, “The crash involved a wine Toyota Sienna with registration number LND945EL and a white convoy bus with registration number AKD232XV. Eight people were involved: six male adults, one female adult, and one female child. Four were killed—two male adults, one female adult, and one female child—while four male adults sustained injuries.”
The injured were transported to Dasochris Hospital in Gbaga, Ogijo, and the bodies of the deceased were taken by their families.
The FRSC spokesperson expressed condolences to the families of the victims and urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and road signs. Ogun Sector Commander CC Anthony Uga emphasized the importance of cautious overtaking and attention to road markings to prevent such accidents.
