Unspecified individuals working with Dangote Cement Company Plc, located in Okpella, Etsako East local government area of Edo State, have reportedly been abducted.
The workers were traveling in a Coaster bus back to Okpella community after finishing their work when they were ambushed and kidnapped by armed gunmen. The assailants, who emerged from the bush, forced the bus to stop at gunpoint before taking the victims into the bush. Some of the workers also sustained bullet wounds during the attack.
A source from the Okpella community confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the exact number of workers abducted.
Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Police were unsuccessful as calls made to the Commissioner of Police, Funsho Adegboye, and the Command spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, went unanswered.
