La Liga president, Javier Tebas, has weighed in on the GOAT debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, declaring Messi as his top choice. Tebas emphasized that both Messi and Ronaldo are among the “best players in history,” but he prioritized the Argentine forward over the Portuguese captain.

Speaking in a recent interview with Juan Jose Buscalia from DSports, Tebas stated, “Lionel and Cristiano are the best two players in history, with Messi as first. Players are important but not essential for a competition.”
