Situation Under Control, Says Management

Early Thursday morning, torrential rain and strong winds led to the partial collapse of the roof in the Amphitheatre of Oduduwa Hall at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State. The incident occurred during a lecture, injuring several students.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, along with other principal officers, promptly visited the university’s Medical and Health Centre to ensure the injured students received appropriate medical care.

According to a statement from the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, two students requiring more extensive medical attention were taken to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC). There, Chief Medical Director Professor John Okeniyi personally oversaw their treatment.

The Vice-Chancellor has appealed for calm, urging students and staff to continue their academic and administrative activities without disruption. The university management has temporarily sealed off the amphitheatre, where the incident occurred, until further notice.
