IMPLICATION OF ANTI-CRIME STRATEGIES IN IMO STATE
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, through the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Okoye Henry, held a press briefing today at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri. The event focused on recent achievements in combating crime in the state.
Over the past two months, the Command has made significant progress in curbing criminal activities. A total of 435 suspects were apprehended for various offenses, including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism. Additionally, 48 firearms and 552 rounds of ammunition were recovered, and 13 kidnapped victims were rescued.
One notable success story is the dismantling of a deadly kidnap syndicate responsible for the abduction and murder of retired Major General Richard Duru. Through diligent intelligence work, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa apprehended the gang leader and members, bringing justice to the victim’s family.
Another incident involved the rescue of a victim from a terrorist/kidnapper group who robbed and threw him into a river. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit successfully tracked and rescued the victim, leading to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Furthermore, the Command arrested individuals involved in armed robbery, cultism, and land disputes, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.
CP Aboki Danjuma commended the officers for their dedication and urged them to continue their efforts in keeping Imo State safe. He also thanked the residents for their support and encouraged them to report any suspicious activities to the police.
Security is a collective responsibility, and with everyone’s cooperation, we can ensure a peaceful and prosperous Imo State.
