An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan has remanded Imole Dauda, 19, and Lateef Tajudeen, 30, for allegedly flogging a 22-year-old man to death with a ‘koboko’.

The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, face charges of conspiracy and murder. Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho did not take their pleas due to lack of jurisdiction.

She instructed the police to forward the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for further advice. The case is adjourned until July 18 for mention.

Prosecutor Inspector Olalekan Adegbite informed the court that the defendants committed the alleged crime on May 10 at 8:00 a.m. in Ilupeju, Ibadan. Adegbite claimed that Dauda and Tajudeen unlawfully caused the death of Tosin Adenuga by flogging him with a ‘koboko’ all over his body. The charges violate sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
