Two students from Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Makoda, tragically drowned in Thomas Dam in Kano State on Wednesday while attempting to cross the dam in a boat.

Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Abubakar Sanusi, 22, and Salisu Ado, 21, while their third colleague, Ibrahim, 21, was rescued alive and is currently receiving medical attention at Dambatta General Hospital, according to the PRO.

Abdullahi explained that Sanusi and Salisu were rescued unconscious but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

He emphasized that the fire service has initiated an investigation into the cause of the incident.
