Famed singer David Adeleke, known as Davido, has taken legal action against Sophia Momodu, the mother of his first child, Imade. Davido is seeking joint custody of their daughter through a suit filed by his legal team, including Olaniyi Arije and Okey Barrah, at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024.

In the court documents, Davido requests unrestricted access to his daughter, Miss Imade. The suit, labeled LD/1587PMC/2024, lists Davido as the applicant and Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent.

Davido claims he has consistently met his financial obligations for Imade’s well-being, covering all her school fees and the rent for the apartment where Sophia and Imade live. Despite these efforts, he alleges Sophia has made unreasonable demands intended to harass and frustrate him.

He recounted that Sophia refused his offer to provide a luxurious apartment worth N200 million in a gated community on Victoria Island, Lagos, instead insisting that he continues to pay N5 million annually for a rented facility.

To ensure Imade’s needs were met, Davido bought a Range Rover SUV for Sophia and Imade’s use and later provided a Highlander SUV when the Range Rover needed repairs. He also paid N5.8 million for the Range Rover’s repair.

Despite his efforts, Davido claims Sophia has made extravagant demands, including $800 per month for a nanny, totaling $19,600 per year to be paid upfront. He expressed that these ongoing demands and actions by Sophia have caused him significant distress.
