France’s captain, Kylian Mbappe, has been diagnosed with a broken nose following an injury sustained during Monday’s 1-0 Euro 2024 victory over Austria. The French Football Federation (FFF) confirmed the diagnosis on Tuesday.

In a statement, the FFF announced, “Kylian Mbappe suffered a broken nose during the second half of the Austria-France match held on Monday in Düsseldorf.”

The statement also noted that, following an initial assessment by the medical staff and Dr. Franck Le Gall, Mbappe was diagnosed with a nose fracture.

Despite the injury, there is a positive update for the 2018 World Cup winners. The federation revealed that Mbappe will not need surgery.

“Mbappe will receive treatment in the coming days, but surgery will not be necessary at this time. A mask will be made for him to facilitate his preparation for a return to competition after a period of treatment,” the FFF added.
