The family of Idowu Glory Adekolure is in mourning after the brutal death of their daughter, a recent graduate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN). Glory’s lifeless body was discovered near her parents’ home in Edo State, prompting calls for justice.
Glory had left home on June 13, 2024, to complete her clearance at the university but did not return alive. According to a social media user, who tweets from @softbaba24 and identifies as her brother, Glory was attacked while returning home from school. He reported that she was beaten, raped, and murdered in the Iyowa community area of Benin City, and her body was subsequently dumped near their house.
In a series of posts on X.com, her brother appealed to the public and the police for assistance in uncovering the truth behind her death. He wrote, “Justice for my younger sister Adekolure Idowu Glory, who was raped and killed in Iyowa community, Benin, Edo State on her way back from school (UNIBEN). She went for her clearance and her corpse was dropped close to her mother’s house.”
He continued, “Help us seek justice for my kid sister who just graduated from the University of Benin in April 2024 and was still working on her projects and clearance. She was raped to death on her way back from school on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at just 22 years old.”
Glory’s body was moved to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) mortuary on June 15, 2024, with the assistance of the Nigeria Police from the Ekiadolor Division. Her brother expressed his family’s deep distress and urged Nigerians to help spread the word and seek justice for Glory.
“Please, everyone should help me to retweet and tag those who can help me get justice,” he pleaded.
The family hopes that public attention will prompt a thorough investigation and bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.
