In Owerri, Imo State, the grieving parents of 22-year-old nurse Ginika Judith Okoro are demanding answers following her unexplained death in the home of her boyfriend, Charles Ndukwu. Ginika’s mother, Mrs. Caroline Nneji, tearfully recounted how her only daughter passed away last Sunday after visiting Charles in Ezeogba, Awaka.
“She was our only child and a dedicated nurse who sometimes visited patients at home,” Mrs. Nneji said. “On that fateful day, she went to see Charles and never returned. My world has collapsed.”
The heartbroken mother explained that Charles came to their house around 9 PM to inform them that Ginika had fallen unconscious and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The shocking news left the family devastated.
Mr. Nneji, Ginika’s stepfather, added that Charles claimed Ginika became unwell after eating pepper soup he had bought for her. He said Charles took her to Edochie Clinic in Awaka, where doctors confirmed her death.
Following the incident, Charles was arrested by the police for further investigation. The distraught parents are now calling on authorities to thoroughly probe the circumstances surrounding their daughter’s death and deliver justice.
“We want a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth behind our daughter’s untimely death. We seek justice for Ginika, although nothing can bring her back,” the parents stated.
ASP Henry Okoye, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the police are committed to uncovering the cause of Ginika’s death. The investigation is ongoing, with the aim of providing clarity and justice for the bereaved family.
As the community mourns with the family, everyone awaits the findings of the police investigation, hoping for answers to the tragic loss of a young life.
