In response to the recent tragic killing of police officers in Ikeduru LGA, the Imo State Police Command, led by Commissioner Aboki Danjuma, has mobilized its Special Tactical Squad. The squad, bolstered with resources and intelligence, is working in coordination with other security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Accorrding to the press release signed by ASP Henry Okoye, on the morning of June 11, 2024, suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), launched a surprise assault on police mobile operatives conducting a stop-and-search operation at Akabor. Despite a fierce defense, two officers and a civilian were killed.

Following the incident, Commissioner Danjuma and the Deputy Commissioner of Operations conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the crime scene. An intense operation is underway in the area to capture and prosecute the assailants.
