In Imo State, several Special Advisers to Governor Hope Uzodimma are contemplating resignation just two months after their swearing-in. These advisers, who were inaugurated alongside the Commissioners, have voiced frustration over the lack of clear job descriptions, official offices, and vehicles.

Since the start of Uzodimma’s second term in January 2024, the advisers feel neglected and sidelined. They shared their concerns with Impartial Observers, emphasizing their qualifications and eagerness to contribute to the state’s development. However, they lament that the administration’s insufficient support has hindered their effectiveness.

Most of these advisers chose to remain anonymous but conveyed a unified message: they need defined roles and adequate resources to perform their duties. Without these, they warned, a collective resignation might be imminent.

The advisers’ predicament highlights a significant issue within the state administration—the need for transparent communication and efficient governance. They appealed to Governor Uzodimma to promptly address their concerns and provide the necessary tools for them to function properly.

Efforts to get a response from the Governor’s Media Aide and Chief Press Secretary, Hon Oguwike Nwachukwu, were unsuccessful as he was unreachable by phone.

This situation underscores the critical importance of clear directives and logistical support for officials to carry out their responsibilities effectively. The coming days will reveal whether the administration takes steps to resolve the advisers’ grievances or faces a potential wave of resignations.
