A 46-year-old butcher and farmer, Ibrahim Ogunrinde, was arrested for allegedly stabbing a motorcyclist, Kosu Daniel in Abeokuta, over suspicions of an affair with his wife. The arrest was confirmed by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) on Friday.

Ogunrinde, a resident of Adu Town, had posed as a passenger and asked Daniel to take him to Olubo town. Midway through the journey, Ogunrinde allegedly attacked Daniel, stabbing him in the neck and arm before fleeing with the victim’s motorbike.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with Daniel left bleeding profusely. He was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta, where he is currently recovering from his injuries.

Upon his arrest, Ogunrinde confessed to the crime, stating that he believed Daniel had been involved with his wife two months prior. Fueled by anger and a desire for revenge, he planned the attack, hoping to eliminate his perceived rival.

So-Safe Corps spokesperson Moruf Yusuf revealed that Ogunrinde was apprehended at Ijaye garage and taken into custody. The stolen motorbike was also recovered during the arrest.

The case has since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit in Magbon for further investigation. Ogunrinde faces potential prosecution as the authorities delve deeper into the motives and circumstances surrounding the attack.
