Augustina Amadin, devoted wife to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amadin Monday, shared a heart-wrenching account of her husband’s ordeal after being shot by his junior colleague. Speaking from their modest home in White Sand, Isheri Oshun, Lagos, she expressed profound disappointment and betrayal as she recounted how Monday, once a proud member of the Nigeria Police Force, now lives in a state of perpetual suffering.

The incident occurred on September 26, 2021, during their return to base at Ezi-Nze division, Enugu State, when an Inspector allegedly shot Monday, leaving him severely injured. Since then, Monday has been confined to their bed, undergoing multiple surgeries and enduring unimaginable pain. His once authoritative police uniform now hangs forgotten, symbolizing a life shattered by betrayal.

Financial hardship compounded their woes, forcing their children to withdraw from universities due to inability to pay tuition fees. The eldest son deferred his Linguistics studies, the second son abandoned his Electrical/Electronics Engineering course at Nasarawa State Polytechnic, and the third son could not pursue his admission due to financial constraints. Even their youngest child faced challenges continuing her education.

Despite Mrs. Amadin’s appeals for assistance from police authorities, no financial aid has been forthcoming. She expressed frustration over the lack of action against the erring Inspector, who continues his duties unperturbed. Two petitions to the Enugu State Police Command and the Force Headquarters, Abuja, yielded no response, leaving the family in despair.

Their plight attracted the attention of Complete New Basic Life Skills Advancement (CNBA), a Non-Governmental Organization, which generously covered the cost of Monday’s corrective surgery. This intervention, after months of financial struggle, provided a glimmer of hope amid their hardship.

Mrs. Amadin urged the Inspector-General of Police and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission to investigate the incident and ensure justice for her husband. She emphasized the urgent need for support from the authorities, lamenting the immense physical and emotional toll the ordeal has taken on their family.

Her plea resonates with a desperate hope for accountability and assistance in their time of dire need.
