Victor Ikpeba, a member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee, has affirmed that embattled Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, retains the full support of the NFF.

Finidi has faced criticism following the Super Eagles’ lackluster performances in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

The team managed a 1-1 draw with Bafana Bafana and suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Cheetahs. As a result, they currently sit in fifth position on the Group C table with three points from four games, leading to calls for Finidi’s dismissal.

However, Ikpeba emphasized the NFF’s confidence in Finidi.

“Nigerians asked for a local coach, and Finidi was deemed the best man to lead the Super Eagles at this time,” Ikpeba told SCORENigeria.

“The technical committee selected him in the best interest of the country.

Despite the recent results, Finidi will continue to enjoy the full support of the NFF.”
