Delta State Police operatives have arrested Bishop Godfrey, the General Overseer and founder of a new generation church, along with his wife and others, over an alleged attempt to kidnap a fellow bishop in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area. During the operation, police also recovered military fatigues from the bishop’s residence.

Bishop Godfrey was apprehended along with his wife, an assistant pastor, and others, who are currently detained at the Ughelli Police A’ Division. Reports indicate that Godfrey was found in a hideout after his wife’s arrest led the police to him.

According to reliable sources, Bishop Godfrey sent threatening text messages to another bishop, whose church is more populated, demanding a ransom of N150,000. Out of fear, the other bishop transferred N100,000 to the account provided in the messages. However, the delay in sending the remaining N50,000 led to additional threats.

We are demanding a ransom of N150,000 from you which should be transferred into our account today, Monday, 10th June.”
