Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has publicly criticized fellow artist Davido for allegedly giving him poor advice during a recent dinner in the United States. According to Portable, Davido, who is signed to Sony Music, suggested that he should join the label Empire instead of Sony.

Portable accused Davido of foul play, noting that he too aspires to win a Grammy, just like Davido, but feels the advice to join Empire might not align with his ambitions.

During an Instagram Live session, Portable expressed his frustrations: “You’re signed to Sony Music, but you’re advising me in America to sign with Empire and take an advance. The same Grammy you’re pursuing is what I’m also aiming for.”

The singer emphasized his preference for genuine support over misleading advice, highlighting examples of true assistance he has received in the past. “Olamide helped me directly, Skepta gave me a verse, money, shoes, clothes, and connected me with major fashion brands. That’s the kind of help I seek, not someone who listens to gossip and offers bad advice,” Portable stated.

Portable’s remarks underscore the complexities and competitive nature of the music industry, where choices about representation and support can significantly impact an artist’s career trajectory.
