Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has strongly criticized Finidi George, who recently resigned as the head coach of the Nigerian national team.

Reports suggest that Finidi accused Osimhen of withdrawing from national team matches due to minor injuries. Osimhen, who scored 15 goals for Napoli in Serie A this season, clarified that he sustained an ankle injury against Lecce on May 25.

Despite intending to join the Super Eagles camp for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Osimhen claimed Finidi instructed him not to participate.

In an impassioned Instagram Live video, Osimhen addressed the allegations, stating, “I won’t allow anyone to tarnish my reputation. When I play for Nigeria, I give my all, pouring my heart into every game. But I won’t tolerate disrespect from anyone.”

“I will share screenshots and videos of my conversations with Finidi to clarify things for those who believe his accusations. I have lost respect for him because I always show respect before anything else,” Osimhen added.

The forward’s comments come amid tensions following Finidi George’s resignation, highlighting a strained relationship between the coach and one of Nigeria’s key players.
