A fatal accident at Ukpo junction along the Nteje-Awka Expressway claimed the life of a woman on Monday night, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State.

FRSC Sector Commander Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi reported on Tuesday that the crash, involving a commercial Toyota bus (registration number NZN116LK) and a private Toyota Diana (registration number ACA529XA), was likely caused by wrongful overtaking.

The collision involved six people: three men and three women. Five were injured, and one woman was killed. The injured were taken to Boromi Mission Hospital in Onitsha by the FRSC rescue team, where the woman was pronounced dead. Her body was taken to the morgue.

The vehicles involved in the accident have been towed to the Command headquarters. Irelewuyi extended condolences to the family of the deceased and urged drivers to avoid reckless driving, especially at night, and to ensure the road is clear before overtaking. “Drive to save lives on our roads,” he advised.
