Austin Okai, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, has claimed that Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, is currently hiding in the state government house.

This allegation comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared Bello wanted in April. Bello has failed to appear before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja for his arraignment on charges of alleged N84 billion money laundering.

The EFCC has urged anyone with information about Bello’s whereabouts to contact the commission or the nearest police station.

In a statement released on Friday, Okai accused Ododo of aiding Bello in evading the EFCC by secretly transporting him from Benghazi Street Zone 4 in Abuja.

“This information was reportedly brought to the President and Commander-in-Chief by the Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA),” Okai said. He also mentioned that the Attorney General of the Federation had warned Ododo against obstructing justice.

Okai asserted that it is widely believed that Bello is hiding in the Kogi State Government House, under the protection of Governor Usman Ododo. He further claimed that Ododo is allegedly being directed by Bello from a concealed location.
