Mizanmil Abubakar, a 29-year-old resident of Barin-Sale in Minna, Niger State, has confessed to murdering his father, Abubakar Adawa, 65, due to deep-seated hatred.

According to a statement by the Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Kpakungu Police Division was alerted on July 29, 2024, about the disappearance of Abubakar Adawa. A police team, led by the Division’s DPO, was dispatched to investigate the case.

Upon arriving at the scene, the police interrogated Mizanmil Abubakar and his mother, Aisha Abubakar. During a search of the premises, the severed body of Abubakar Adawa was found buried in a shallow grave within their compound.

In his confession, Mizanmil admitted to killing his father with a hoe, dismembering the body, and burying the remains. He cited intense hatred towards his father as the motive behind the crime.

SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Mizanmil Abubakar will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further inquiry and legal proceedings.

The case has drawn significant attention and highlights concerns about familial violence and mental health issues within the community.
