Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Igbariam, Anambra State, has teamed up with Bredhub-UBTECH to enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics education for its students and the wider community. The partnership was formalized with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at providing hands-on experience with robots and teaching programming skills.
During the signing ceremony held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Prof. Kate Omenugha emphasized the importance of preparing young people for the rapid changes brought about by technology. “This partnership marks a significant shift for us. We aim to not only educate but also empower our students and the community to adapt and innovate in today’s fast-paced world,” she said.
Prof. Omenugha expressed her excitement about the initiative, noting that it will help change the mindset of young people, making them more productive and responsible citizens. “We want to involve not just our students but also the wider community, including local children. This initiative is a step towards societal transformation,” she added.
Chukwuemeka Agbata, the Managing Director of the Anambra State ICT Agency, described the collaboration as a groundbreaking development for the university, providing access to cutting-edge technology that is reshaping industries globally. He highlighted the need for an educational curriculum that includes ICT to align with the governor’s vision for tech advancement in the state.
Michael Ahamefule, CEO of Bredhub-UBTECH, noted that this partnership opens the door to innovative opportunities for both the university and the tech firm. He explained, “Training students in AI and robotics will not only enhance their career prospects but also equip them to tackle some of the pressing challenges faced by society today.”
Following the MoU signing, students had the chance to interact with AI and robotics technology firsthand. A demonstration held at the Faculty of Social Sciences thrilled attendees, including Ifeoma Okeke from the Political Science Department, who remarked, “This was an unforgettable experience. Learning how to use these tools to solve real-world problems is invaluable for our futures.”
