Bandits attacked the home of Dr. Tiri Gyang, a lecturer at Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina State, resulting in his tragic death. During the midnight assault in the neighborhood near the university, the bandits also abducted two of Dr. Gyang’s children and two other women.

Dr. Gyang, who served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, was fatally shot when the bandits stormed his residence at Low-cost Quarters behind Comprehensive Hospital in Dutsinma around 1:00 am. His body was subsequently taken to a mortuary in Katsina.

The university’s Public Relations Officer has not yet responded to inquiries, but colleagues and students have confirmed the incident through various social media posts. The community, both within the university and Dutsinma, mourns the loss of Dr. Gyang, describing him as a respected figure and mentor.
