A Benin couple has been sentenced to five years in prison for their roles in trafficking a woman to Dubai for prostitution, marking a significant victory in the fight against human trafficking. The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) secured the conviction, underscoring its commitment to tackling such heinous crimes.

The High Court, Criminal Division 2, in Benin City found Adesuwa Otabor and Otabor Idahosa guilty of conspiring to traffic the victim, an offense that breaches Section 27 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
