Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently highlighted the global rise of the Afrobeats genre. Speaking during a Hiptv panel discussion with the United States Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders in Nigeria’s Creative Industries, Davido emphasized that Afrobeats artists are now selling as many tickets as pop and hip-hop stars like Drake.

He pointed out the significant financial impact of the genre, noting, “One song as an Afrobeats artist can change your generation.”

Davido also encouraged young artists to prioritize collaborations within the Afrobeats community rather than seeking international features. He stressed, “When you collaborate with your friends, they put their all into it.”
