Veteran Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has firmly rejected claims that he has left the Labour Party. In a statement made on Arise Television’s Prime Time program, Okonkwo asserted his continued commitment to the party.

“I am surprised and embarrassed to hear reports suggesting that I have left the Labour Party. I am still a full-fledged member,” Okonkwo said. He clarified that the misinformation did not stem from any statement he made.

Addressing concerns about internal party issues, Okonkwo acknowledged problems within the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), including the failure to hold an all-inclusive convention as mandated by court rulings and previous agreements.

While Okonkwo had previously criticized Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for his leadership style and approach to national issues, he emphasized his ongoing affiliation with the party. He expressed a need for a more decisive and principled leader to align with his vision for Nigeria’s future.
