About 11 travelers, including students from tertiary institutions, were abducted by armed men along the Enugu-Abakaliki federal highway at the Amechi-Idodo area. The victims, who were traveling back to Abakaliki from Awka, Anambra State, were intercepted by the gunmen who are now demanding N30 million ransom for their release.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in the notorious Amechi-Idodo area of Nkanu East Local Government Area, Enugu State. The Enugu State Police Command has not yet confirmed the abduction.
Efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the abducted individuals, as their families and concerned authorities await updates on the situation.
