The Labour Party (LP) has labeled Kenneth Okonkwo a “mole” following his recent exit from the party, expressing that his departure and subsequent criticisms of Peter Obi were anticipated.

Okonkwo, who previously served as a spokesperson for LP’s 2023 presidential campaign, publicly criticized Obi, stating that he lacked the capability to build a winning party and secure a mandate. Okonkwo’s resignation and comments came as a result of what he described as ongoing issues within the party, which he believed were hindering its progress.

In response, LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, dismissed Okonkwo’s criticisms as attention-seeking and not surprising. Ifoh emphasized that the party was prepared for Okonkwo’s departure and viewed his remarks as an attempt to gain attention rather than contribute constructively.

Ifoh stated, “Kenneth Okonkwo’s resignation from the Labour Party did not catch us off guard. His attacks on Peter Obi are unfortunate but not unexpected. We will not waste energy responding to his provocations, recognizing them as part of his quest for attention.”

The Labour Party reaffirmed its commitment to Peter Obi as its candidate for the 2027 presidential elections, maintaining focus on its political goals despite the internal challenges and criticisms from former members.
