A 38-year-old man, Eric Chisom, has been arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly abducting a 22-year-old woman. The incident reportedly took place on June 12 at Olaoluwa Street in the Ladilak, Bariga area of Lagos State.

Prosecutor Inspector John Iberedem explained that Chisom is accused of keeping the woman in his house without her parents’ knowledge, thereby committing an act of abduction.

The charges against Chisom fall under Section 268 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which stipulates a seven-year imprisonment term for anyone found guilty of abducting a female to cause her to marry, engage in sexual intercourse, or be detained against her will.
