Social activist and comedian Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has condemned the notion of sacrificing the freedom of the populace for personal gain. In a recent post on X, Mr Macaroni asserted that no amount of money, status, or influence is worth compromising the people’s liberty.
He criticized those who, in their pursuit of power or financial gain, have abandoned their moral compass by promoting violence, hatred, and bigotry. “No amount of money, position, or connection should ever be enough to sacrifice the freedom of your people,” he declared. He emphasized that such individuals are blinded by their selfishness and fail to realize that unity could grant everyone a share of the benefits they seek.
Mr Macaroni’s comments come at a time when some Nigerians are rallying for a nationwide protest set to take place from August 1 to August 10, 2024. The protest is driven by growing concerns over widespread hunger and the escalating cost of living across the country. Organizers are voicing their frustration over these issues, urging for change and accountability from those in power.
