Former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili has criticized the Nigerian Government for creating fear around the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled for August 1.

In a statement on X, Ezekwesili supported the protest organizers, emphasizing that it is a legitimate means for Nigerians to voice their dissatisfaction with current governance.

She said, “The ongoing media campaigns by the @NigeriaGov and its allies are attempts to undermine citizens who are merely expressing their distress and demand for better governance.”

Ezekwesili condemned the government’s actions, stating that instead of addressing the grievances of citizens, officials are perpetuating fear. She described this as a clear indication of the government’s failure to respond constructively to the needs of the people.

“The extensive propaganda against the protest demonstrates that the power of the people outweighs those in power,” she asserted. “The #EndBadGovernanceProtest is a legitimate exercise of citizens’ rights to demand accountability from their leaders.”

She commended Nigerians for their resilience amid severe economic challenges and hoped the country would benefit from the collective efforts to demand better leadership.
