A horrifying incident in Badagry, Lagos, has left the community in shock and anger after a 14-year-old boy named Testimony was allegedly beaten to death by his guardian and her son, known only as Chukwuemeka. The tragedy reportedly unfolded at their home on Delta Street, Ayanre, off Ibiye bus stop.
The young boy’s ordeal began on Wednesday night when he was accused of misplacing a N1,000 note given to him to buy items at the market. Neighbors recount that Testimony was brutally beaten for several hours, starting at 11 PM, before succumbing to his injuries around 1 AM on Thursday.
One of the neighbors, speaking with our correspondent on Friday, said, “This young boy was beaten to death by his guardians, who were not his biological parents. The neighbors tried to intervene, but the doors were locked from the inside.”
The boy’s condition worsened when he was not responding to his name early Thursday morning. “Around 6 AM, he wasn’t responding, so they rushed him to a nearby hospital. The hospital didn’t have oxygen therapy, so they brought him back home, which aggravated his condition,” the neighbor explained.
In a desperate attempt to save him, the woman called her prayer partners from the church to pray for a miracle. Unfortunately, the prayers were in vain, and Testimony passed away. The police arrived at the scene around 5:10 PM on Thursday and took the woman, the main suspect, into custody.
Despite multiple attempts to confirm the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, stated he could not confirm the details at the time.
A disturbing one-minute and 32-second video shared by an eyewitness showed Testimony’s lifeless body covered with bruises, lying in the apartment. One of the men behind the camera could be heard saying, “This is the dead boy with bruises,” while others in the background screamed in disbelief.
The senseless death of Testimony has sparked outrage in the community, with residents demanding justice for the young boy. As the investigation unfolds, the community hopes for swift action to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are held accountable.
