With just five days until the 2024 Olympic Games kick off in Paris, France, Nigeria is gearing up to showcase its talent on the global stage. From July 26 to August 11, 2024, a contingent of 88 Nigerian athletes will compete in various sports.

Here is the complete list of sports events where Team Nigeria will be participating:

  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Canoeing
  • Cycling
  • Football
  • Table Tennis
  • Taekwondo
  • Weightlifting
  • Wrestling

In anticipation of the Games, the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, expressed his hope for Team Nigeria to surpass its best performance, achieved at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA. Enoh urged Nigerians to support their athletes throughout the competition.

“Our athletes are putting in tremendous effort and dedication in their preparations,” Enoh stated in a message delivered by his Special Assistant on Media, Diana-Mary Nsan. “We are confident that with the support of every Nigerian, our team will excel and make the nation proud.”

Nigeria’s lineup includes world-class athletes such as Oluwatobiloba Amusan, Ese Brume, Blessing Oborodudu, the two Favours (Ashe and Ofili), Odunayo Adekouroye, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, and Aruna Quadri, among many other talented names.

With a strong team and the nation’s backing, Nigeria aims to make a significant impact at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
