The Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Imo State Chapter is in deep mourning following the sudden demise of Chief Onyeka Onwenu, the former PMAN National 1st Vice President. Onyeka Onwenu, a beloved icon in the Nigerian music industry, passed away unexpectedly while performing on stage at the 80th birthday celebration of Mrs. Stella Okoli, the CEO of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, on July 30, 2024.

Lady Golda C. Njiribeako, the PMAN Imo State Administrator, expressed profound shock and sadness over the loss of Onyeka Onwenu, noting the significant void her passing has left in the music industry. “Onyeka’s contributions to music and her advocacy for social justice have been monumental. Her death is not just a loss to her family but to the entire Nigerian music industry,” said Njiribeako.

PMAN Imo State has announced plans to honor Onyeka Onwenu with a Tribute Music Concert, celebrating her enduring legacy and immense contributions to the industry. “We will ensure that her legacy continues to inspire and uplift. This Tribute Music Concert will be our way of saying thank you to a woman who gave so much to us all,” Njiribeako added.
