A pregnant woman named Margaret was brutally gang-raped by a six-man armed gang while working on her farm in Kadiri, Keana Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on Friday, July 12, has left the community in a state of outrage and fear.

Margaret recounted the traumatic event, explaining that she was with her husband on the farm when the armed gang, suspected to be militia, appeared. Both she and her husband tried to flee, but due to her pregnancy, Margaret was unable to escape and fell to the ground. The armed men then took turns raping her, leaving her bleeding and barely conscious before abandoning her. She was later rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

The predominantly farming community has made a fervent appeal to the government for swift intervention and justice for the innocent victim. A community spokesperson emphasized the need for protective measures, stating, “It is imperative that measures be put in place to protect farmers and residents from such barbaric acts in the future. The safety and security of all citizens must be guaranteed, and steps must be taken to prevent such atrocities from recurring.”
