Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned that President Bola Tinubu’s administration may not respond to the concerns of Nigerians unless the August 1 nationwide protest takes place.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Oluwatosin Osho, Primate Ayodele criticized the current administration for failing to address the widespread hardship and hunger affecting the country. He described the planned protest as an essential wake-up call for Tinubu, lawmakers, and state governors.

“The protest is not a solution but a necessary wake-up call,” Ayodele stated. “It will force the President, governors, and senators to acknowledge the people’s plight and act accordingly. This government has not done enough to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.”

While acknowledging the protest’s role in prompting government action, Ayodele emphasized that he does not endorse protests as a long-term solution to the country’s issues. He urged demonstrators to maintain peaceful and non-violent conduct to avoid escalating the situation.

“I urge all participants to approach the protest with civility and avoid any actions that could lead to anarchy,” he added. “It is crucial for the protest to remain peaceful to ensure it serves its intended purpose of prompting government accountability.”
