Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Afrobeats star Davido, has officially responded to the singer’s lawsuit regarding the custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke. Momodu’s legal team, led by Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorneys and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun, filed a comprehensive 102-paragraph counter affidavit.

This development follows Davido’s recent legal action seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to their daughter. The lawsuit, marked LD/1587PMC/2024, lists Davido as the applicant and Sophia Momodu as the respondent, marking the start of their legal tussle over Imade’s custody.

Davido claims he has always fulfilled his financial responsibilities towards Imade’s well-being. He alleges that despite his efforts, Sophia has made unreasonable demands to harass and frustrate him. By seeking joint custody, Davido aims to play an active role in his daughter’s life.

In her counter affidavit, Momodu refutes Davido’s allegations, asserting that it was Davido who, by his “own choice,” has not seen their daughter since July 2022. She reveals that she has shouldered the responsibility for Imade’s upbringing alone for the past two years, while Davido posts pictures of Imade on social media to “falsely portray himself as a supportive and active father.”

The next court hearing is scheduled for Friday, July 5.
