Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu and the Iyaloja General of Lagos State, has appealed to Lagos market women to advise their children against joining the upcoming hunger protest scheduled for August 1.
In a video that has gone viral, Tinubu-Ojo addressed market women in Yoruba, urging them to warn their children about the potential risks of participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest. She emphasized the Lagos State Government’s achievements and the need for patience with the Federal Government, which is led by her father.
“Let’s talk to ourselves, our children, and our families about the dangers of protesting in Lagos. It’s a tactic to destabilize the country. We’ve seen the damage from past protests. Don’t let our children be misled by those who might be paying people to cause unrest,” she said in Yoruba.
Switching to English, Tinubu-Ojo added, “There’s no reason for protests in Lagos State. The state government is making us proud and providing a sense of community. The Federal Government has just started; let’s give it three years before passing judgment. Prevention is better than cure. We must avoid loss of lives.”
Her comments come as President Tinubu has been engaging with various stakeholders, including religious and traditional leaders, governors, and security forces, to deter participation in the nationwide protests driven by economic difficulties and rising food prices.
