Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently revealed that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Saturday, attributing his survival to either “luck or God.”
In a joint interview with the New York Post and Washington Examiner, Trump reflected on the harrowing experience, stating, “By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here. I’m not supposed to be here. I’m supposed to be dead.”
Trump recounted how a seemingly small action may have saved his life. “The fact that I turned to point at a poster about immigration likely saved my life,” he said. “I rarely look away from the crowd. Had I not done that in that moment, well, we would not be talking today, would we?”
The former president emphasized the miraculous nature of his survival. “The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this. He called it a miracle,” Trump added.
This close call has left Trump and many others reflecting on the fortunate—or perhaps divine—intervention that allowed him to escape unscathed.
