Two commissioners from Governor Alex Otti’s administration in Abia State have resigned from their positions. Professor Monica Ironkwe, the Commissioner for Agriculture, and Chima Oriaku, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, both stepped down recently.

There has been no official statement from either of the former commissioners explaining their reasons for resigning. Similarly, the Abia State government has not released any formal announcement regarding their departures or the circumstances surrounding them.

However, in response to inquiries on Wednesday morning, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, confirmed that the resignations were voluntary. He dismissed circulating rumors that the commissioners were sacked, stating, “The two commissioners resigned from the cabinet. No one was sacked. Disregard the trending rumors.”

The resignations have sparked speculation, but the administration maintains that the changes were made amicably.
