The Borno State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old woman, Lydia Aji, for allegedly killing her husband with an axe in Kautikari village, Chibok LGA. The incident occurred during a domestic dispute over their 13-year-old daughter, Rachael, who had stolen and sold a goat.
According to ASP Nahum Daso, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the altercation began when the father ordered Rachael to leave the house due to her behavior. Lydia opposed this decision, leading to a violent confrontation in which she struck her husband on the head with an axe, killing him instantly.
The investigation revealed a history of misunderstandings between the couple. The case is ongoing as police continue their investigation.
In a separate incident, the police also arrested 24-year-old Usakahyel Adamu in Kwaya-Kusar LGA for allegedly killing his 90-year-old grandfather. Adamu reportedly struck his grandfather on the head with a hoe during an argument, causing immediate death.
Additionally, the police command apprehended three suspects in possession of Indian hemp and hard drugs, and a group of five suspected vandals involved in the theft of public infrastructure, including solar street lights and borehole components. Three other individuals were paraded for criminal intimidation after threatening a man to pay N2 million or face death.
All suspects will be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.
