John Obi Mikel, former Chelsea and Nigerian midfield star, has advised Arsenal to secure the signing of Brentford’s prolific striker Ivan Toney as they aim to strengthen their squad for a title challenge. Mikel believes that Toney’s goal-scoring prowess could be the missing piece in Arsenal’s pursuit of the Premier League crown.

Toney, who has netted 72 goals and provided 23 assists in 141 appearances for Brentford, caught the attention of top Premier League clubs after scoring 20 goals in the 2022-23 season. His consistent performances since Brentford’s promotion in 2021 have made him a target for the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham.

During an interview with BeIN Sports, Obi Mikel expressed his thoughts on where the 28-year-old striker should go next. “I think a club like Arsenal would be perfect for Toney. He’s been linked with them for some time now, and with his goal-scoring record, he could be the player they need to push for the title,” Mikel stated.

He further highlighted the importance of having a reliable goal-scorer in Arsenal’s ranks, despite the positive contributions of Kai Havertz. Mikel suggested that Toney’s experience and proven track record in the Premier League make him an ideal fit for the Gunners or even Aston Villa.

As the transfer window heats up, Arsenal fans will be watching closely to see if the club heeds Mikel’s advice and makes a move for Toney, who could be the key to ending their title drought.
