Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, has expressed confidence that his team will once again triumph over the Super Eagles in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. The Cheetahs are set to face the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, September 7.

Rohr’s optimism stems from their recent victory over Nigeria, where Benin edged out the Super Eagles 2-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in June. The German tactician, who previously managed the Nigerian national team, is looking forward to another clash with his former side.

“It’s another rematch against Nigeria. It will be three more games with them, including the upcoming return match, counting for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers,” Rohr stated. “It’s a rematch against a very good team. But we have gained confidence, and we know we can beat them.”
