The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has slated August 22, 2024, for its primary elections ahead of the local government polls. This decision, announced by the State Chairman, MacDonald Ebere, signifies the party’s readiness to conduct what it promises will be a transparent and credible exercise.

The primaries will be conducted with party executive members serving as automatic delegates. However, there is growing pressure from grassroots members who are advocating for all registered party members to be included in the voting process to ensure fairness and equity. The APC’s State Organizing Secretary, Ikechukwu Sunday Umeh, has urged aspirants to engage with their local supporters, emphasizing the importance of conducting the process in a manner that will be broadly acceptable.
