Big Brother Naija has made significant changes to the ongoing Season 9, scrapping the controversial Custodian Challenge and restoring the traditional immunity for the Head of House (HOH). These adjustments mark a return to the familiar dynamics that have long defined the reality show.
In a surprising announcement during Sunday’s live show, host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu revealed that Biggie has abolished both the Custodian Challenge and the HOH ballot system. The Custodians, who previously held the power to influence evictions and secure their own safety, will no longer enjoy this advantage. Additionally, the HOH will now be protected from eviction during their tenure, a key feature that had been missing from this season’s gameplay.
Biggie has also taken away the housemates’ power to vote for the eviction of the bottom four pairs, placing the responsibility solely in the hands of viewers through public voting. While the HOH will no longer have the authority to “save and replace” a nominated housemate, the power dynamics of the house are set to shift as housemates now nominate each other directly for eviction.
These changes are designed to heighten the competition and keep both housemates and viewers on their toes as the season progresses.
