Nigerian singer Dammy Krane has been released from police custody after spending six days behind bars following his arrest over allegations of defamation against fellow artist Davido. The release, which took place on Thursday, August 29, 2024, has brought an end to a tense period between the two musicians.
The saga began when Dammy Krane accused Davido of orchestrating his arrest in a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, claiming he was being detained on Davido’s orders. The accusations led to a significant public outcry and further strained the relationship between the two artists.
However, in a video shared by popular social media critic Verydarkman (VDM) on Instagram, Dammy Krane extended an apology to Davido, expressing regret over the allegations he made, particularly regarding the death of Tagbo Umeike, a close associate of Davido.
“I want to say a big thank you to my brother. There are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I want to apologize for Tagbo’s death allegation. David is still my brother, and we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything,” Dammy Krane stated in the video.
The apology comes after VDM publicly appealed to Davido to consider forgiving Dammy Krane, which seemingly facilitated the singer’s release. Captioning the video, VDM wrote, “Dammy Krane is out. Dear @davido, as you have honored me by listening to my plea in less than 4 hours, God will honor you. I believe God is giving him a second chance, and I hope he focuses on his music moving on.”
The release and subsequent apology have sparked discussions online, with fans and industry insiders alike hoping that the two artists can reconcile and move forward from the incident.
